Searching in the SBNP Marketplace lists matches to your search in a Search Results view. To see full details about a business that appears in the Search Results, click on the name of that business in the Company column.

Your best ways to find businesses in the Marketplace are to:

1) Search by any word(s) that you expect should appear in the product/services description, e.g. "food" or "shoes." (Note that you can type in the first part of a word and the search will match any word starting with those characters. If you want to restrict the search to an exact match, put the entry in quotation marks, e.g. searching on "card" will not find "cards".)

2) Search by any word that is part the company name, if you know it. (Again, if you want to ensure an exact match, put the search string in quotation marks, e.g. a search for "market" will not find "marketing".)

If you put in more than one word, the search will only find entries that match the entire text string. You can also use AND, OR and NOT to refine searches.

In the Search Results, a "BALLE flower"   symbol in the Member column means that the business is a member of the Sustainable Business Network of Portland. If "No" appears, the business is a participant in the Think Local First campaign. In all cases, the listed businesses are independent, locally owned businesses; however, SBNP members agree to strive towards operating their businesses in ways that benefit the local community and the environment.

Note: The "Industry" category that shows up when looking at a detailed business listing is seached for any word(s) you enter. Additionally, when a listing is created, "Product/Service" categories can be set - which are also searched, but are not currently shown. (In the future, these categories will be utilized to help users find types of products/services without knowing specific terms to search for in the description.)
